The Pink Magnolia Club, a wonderful story of women's friendships, is one of the most moving books I have read. I have never felt the need to review a book on line before, but it is my duty to praise Dawson for her service to the special friendships that we as women have and the magnificent work of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.
I have learned so much about this organization and its good works from Dawson's Book. The Pink Magnolia Club not only touched my heart but also my soul. I cried at the ups and downs in the friendships among the three women and recalled such friendships with older and younger women that I have been blessed to have. I am ordering this book for those women, ages 17-82, I am lucky enough to call my friends for 1 year to 43 years so they can have a good cry, remember our friendship and learn what to do with those rings still stored in their drawers.

Pink Magnolia Club touched me in a way no other book has before, and probably never will again. I lost my grandmother, my aunt, and my very best friend to metastatic breast cancer and my sister fights the battle today...so the story was very dear to my heart.

Geralyn Dawson does a marvelous job with the story of three women, touched by breast cancer..one at the beginning of her adult life, another in the middle, and a third in the twilight of her life. Everyone should buy 2 copies, one to read one to give away.

Calling Hilary Rice by such a nickname may seem to indicate familiarity but the fact is that after reading this incredible book, I feel as if I know Ms. Rice as personally as I would know, say, my best friend. As a big Dawson's Creek fan, I must say that Ms. Rice does the show, the characters, and the actors, a great service. If there is one book that will make people appreciate this wonderful show, it would be this one. And I would hesitate to call anyone a fan who has not purchased this book. Ms. Rice's wonderful appreciation for the show, and delightful sense of humor make this book a joy to read. I would read it again and again, if I did not have classes to attend.

If you're not sure whether you want to buy this book or not, why don't you get down to your local library or mega-bookshop and take a look-see for yourself, instead of reading the blather of dunderheads like those whose reviews disgrace the rest of this page?

Even my friend Paul whom I work with, whom has won piano competitions, and played all over the town,including The Whitney, and knew what it was like to be a virtuoso, and whom after 42 years of playing the piano still has a desire to play, even though now he sells pianos more than he plays, and I who also sell pianos, and know them very, very well, though can't play them as well as Paul, but knows just as well what makes them good, and also what makes a good book, believes this book to be a new book. And what I mean by a new book is that this book has never before been written, except for maybe other books written by the author, but with different characters. That this book is not a sad book, even though it may seem as such, just as my friend Paul is not a sad man even though he may seem as such, and I, who may be the most sad of all, although one may think me to be the least sad when compared to my freind Paul, or even this book, I thought.

thomas bernhard is a genius writer,a master no velist and"the loser" is my choice for the fiction book of the century...

Only once before in my life have I read a book cover to cover. Although I am generally not that fond of science fiction, I found this book to be very worth while. Entering Tenebrea avoids the techno babble and unrealistic alien cultures that usually make up the meat of sci-fi stories and instead focuses on character development and a deliciously unpredictable plot. This book is a real gem, even for those who don't like Star Trek.

It was a stroke of brilliance for Roxann Dawson to collaborate with the consumate science fiction (SciFi)author Daniel Graham. The result was science fiction at its very best. Entering Tenebrra is a "must read" for any lover of quality SciFI. Like Daniel Grahams award winning SciFi novel "The Gatekeepers," "Entering Tenebbrea" simply captivates the reader with a combination of drama, suspence, romance, and excitng thrills. It is none stop fun!

The main character, Andrea Flores, will no doubt become the female counter part to Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. Fans will be eagerly waiting for the next book to enjoy her exploits. Her quest for revenge over the murder of her family plunges her in to an intergalactic war. Admiral Hal'Rin, himself an interesting alien character and father like figure to Andrea Flores, trains her in the special operations that is at the core of this noval. Her exploits are simply thrilling. How any learned reader and conisuer of quality science fiction could rate "Entering Tenebbrea" as anythng other than exceptional "five star" quality science fiction is hard to imagine. The writng is incredibly good. Don't miss this one folks. Treat yoursleves to the very best!

Wow is the first word out of my mouth when I finished this first book of the trilogy!! I couldn't put it down! I immediately wanted the story to continue so I could see what happens next!! I read the entire book in one day!! I was lucky enough to buy the book when Roxann was signing them at a convention. If you like military and sci-fi stuff, you will love this one!! Bravo to both Roxann and Daniel for such an entertaining and thought-provoking piece of work!! Can't wait for the next installment coming out soon!!

This book divides parenting into two sides: nurture and structure. The authors give more than enough examples of the diffent types of each. All of this information gives the reader a new way of looking at how we interact with eachother and ourselves. There is also a great section with affirmations and helpful behaviours for each developmental stage.

Reading Growing Up Again has given me tremendous insights into the kind of parenting I was given and how that is affecting my parenting and grandparenting. I find that I go back to the book often and re-read portions of it. As an adoptee, I especially appreciated the chapter devoted entirely to adoption. Thank you, Connie and Jean!

A very insightful book about the different stages of human development. It's written in a way that anyone who doesn't have any experience in psychology can clearly relate and understand. An eye-opener for our relationships of origin and a tool for improving the families we are creating

I enjoyed reading about the life of George Dawson, a man whose life has spanned three centuries. However, the mere fact that he has lived so long does not necessarily a feature book make. Aside from Mr. Dawson's rail travels and working on the Mississippi, Mr. Dawson had not done much else until he took up reading at 98. He can't comment much on events of the 20th century because he couldn't read, and what he could remember was scant. The reader is presented with a view of a genuinely kind man whose outlook on life is basically positive and warm. Yet, I often could not distinguish if I was listening to Mr. Dawson, or his "co-author", Richard Glaubman. It would have been far more interesting to detail Mr. Dawson's years since he began to read. The book speaks of the large numbers of letters written to Mr. Dawson, congratulating him on his beginning his literacy venture so late in life. Why not write more about his classroom experience and how that must have transformed him recently?... or the interaction with those who now wish him well? Perhaps a second book should be in order because that is where the REAL interest in Mr. Dawson lies.

This book is about the life of George Dawson, a remarkable 101-year-old man who is the grandson of slaves. Born in 1898, he tells of what life was like in Texas before integration. He turned away racial hatred by his gentle manner and kept his dignity during the most trying circumstances. He did manual labor from the time he was 4 until he was 90, and at age 98 he began to look for new challenges and so decided to go to Adult Education classes and learn to read. When he was growing up, he was always working,and as the oldest son he was depended upon to contribute financially to his family. His younger brothers and sisters went to school, but he never had a chance until someone knocked on his door and offered him the chance to learn to read. His quiet dignity shines through the pages as his story is told to co-author, Richard Glaubman. Glaubman is an elementary school teacher from Washington who became fascinated with a newspaper article he read about Dawson in a Seattle paper. The two became good friends over the course of the writing of this book and it is told in a narrative style of two friends chatting about the past. Some of the most interesting stories involve Dawson's early years and the times in his 20's when he traveled around the country just to satisfy his wanderlust. This is a wonderful book and in the course of reading it I felt as if I'd gotten to know a very special person

George Dawson is a remarkable man. He was the son of a slave and grew up in Texas. At the age of four he began working the family farm. At twelve he was sent out as a hired hand to help earn money for his family. He left home at twenty-one and traveled the country by rail. He worked hard all his life and encountered many hardships but there is no bitterness in this book as there is in so many memoirs today. This book is like a mini lesson in American history from a black respective. I loved this book because it showed so much perserverance and determination. George Dawson never was able to go to school as a child because he always had to work but at the age of 98 he learned to read! At 103 he was working on his G.E.D. He died in June of 2001. I read part of his story to my first grade class this year and they were fascinated. It shows how it is never too late to learn. This is the best book I have read all year.
